The Wildflower Meadow

Native Bees

Did you know that Australia is home to over 1600 species of bees? These fascinating creatures play a vital role in our ecosystem, with most of them being solitary bees that raise their young in burrows or small hollows. Native stingless bees are particularly important as crop pollinators, and keeping native hives is becoming increasingly popular.

If you want to attract these important pollinators to your garden, we recommend planting Brachyscome, Christmas Bush, Bottlebrush, Clematis, Eucalyptus, and Grevilleas. These plants are known to be loved by our native bees and will help to support their populations.

If you want to learn more about native bees and how to support them, check out @thewildpollinator on Facebook or Instagram for further information and tips. Let’s work together to protect and support our native bees and the Australian plants they pollinate!
